Blog Network Watchers - The watch is on

It all started on 28th September, 2005 with an excellent post by Martin Neumann puts titled, ”Blog Networks: Are They Right for You?

It argued about the clash between two of the hot blogging business models. On one side we find the likes of b5media where writers only get a percentage of Adsense clicks they manages to get on their blogs. On the other hand you got the 9rules kind of network where you are the full owner of your blog. A similar model is being used by John Battelle in FM Network initiative. The sale of Weblogs Inc. is only the beginning of the Blogging Age, neither the end nor any plateau. The ’Yet another Blog Netwrok’ tag notwithstanding, you will see much faster action in this fertile arena. Expect more professional versions of this basic human urge to express one.

Martin also started an excellent site Blognetworkwatch to cover the upcoming blog networks. But sadly, he has decided to close the blog and return to his original Homeofficevoice blog and keep blog netework watching as just a category.

Martin, please come back. The action has only just started. You were the right person at the right place, at the right time. We won’t be surprised if you are being sourced by regular media guys for scoops on the blogosphere.

Robb Dunewood at blognetworkwatch.net is also doing a great service to all us Blog Networks. Wish you all the best, Robb.

JD at blognetworkwatch.blogspot is also watching us with a keen eye.

Even Nick Douglas at Blogebrity is watching Blog Networks with relish. We all love his one-liners.

This Blog Network Story is going to be a long, long one. Where guys like Martin, Robb, JD and Nick have ringside seats.

Blog Networks only just revving up.

Well I guess here's a voice from the other side.

I think weblog networks are already getting way too much attention. Since the sale of weblogs.inc it's like everyone is smelling cash and setting up networks. Let's all get over it. Weblogs.inc did it but the 100.000 new networks that came after they were bought by AOL well ehm.. won't!

Mark my words!
