Throttling New Media voice, the US way

An apprehension is well on its way to becoming the reality. The US lawmakers are out to crush the freedom of expression of individuals. In all probability, they will soon come out with a law, wherein bloggers will not be deemed as legitimate journalists. The simple and straight implication of this law is that bloggers will be shorn of the safeguards of a federal shield law, meant for journalists.

On account of sheer numerical advantage over the newspaper reporters, bloggers have exhibited their might in terms of reach. And with the Internet revolution touching more and more parts of the globe, it’s only going to be easier and convenient to put your views across the Net...for the world to read. Besides, as blogging gives expression to an individual’s spontaneous reaction, it’s got to have more sting than a journo’s reporting, confined within institutional limits.

However, we at Instablogs believe, one day, FREE AS A BLOG will be the best selling T-shirt everywhere, law or no law.

I am not sure if somebody already told you this, but are you planning to have a combined RSS Feed for all the channels, with post summaries if not full posts so that those using newsreaders could atleast get an inkling when any channel is updated. You may perhaps consider providing the user a choice of which channels should be included in this feed. Best,
It will be interesting to see how this pans out. I am for certain that some poor soul will be left holding the bag. There are too many copyright issues… etc… On another front… bloogers (the millions en masse) do not have lobbying arms (etc)… and are only gaining in number and penetration of hte market. A portion of the Old Media (or mainstream media) who depend on analysis for a living (who do have a lobbying arm) are beginning to react to bloggers… It will be interesting….
