Martin Emila’s Media Chair concept looks extraterrestrial

We did a round-up of the best multimedia chairs a while ago. Though those were some of the finest chairs on the market, we have also seen a whole lot of concept chairs that features enough multimedia features on board for relaxing in solitude. Industrial designer Martin Emila’s ergonomic Media chair is another concept we would love to see turn real, owing to its arresting pod-like shape and seamlessly integrated iPod dock. The chair is crafted from a hard plastic shell with four telescopic adjustable legs that complete its extraterrestrial looks. The desired comfort is achieved with a soft foam insert into the shell, covered with leather or desired fabric adorning different colors or patterns. The headrest features a built-in 3-way speaker for surround sound and on the outer left side is placed a compact projector for video projections. The sumptuous design is perfectly complemented with state-of-the-art electronics which makes it unrivaled in terms of choice, only if it is real!!

The Midnight Rider Tundra Tailgater concept is the ultimate tailgating vehicle

Given the specs of hi-tech concept cars like Scion’s roadsters and the Peugeot Flux concept car with built-in Xbox 360 along with the latest entrant on the SEMS show 2009, Toyota’s Tacoma ATG that is loaded with four 24-inch LCDs and Xbox 360s, the futuristic car will offer plenty of on-road entertainment you will normally relate with limos. Another concept from the show is the Midnight Rider Tundra Tailgater by Brooks & Dunn, designed in partnership with Toyota to celebrate the legendary country music duo’s career of over 20 years. This one-of-a-kind Tundra Tailgater is dubbed as the ultimate tailgating vehicle with a slide-out tailgate that packs-in a BBQ grill, beer tap, ice chest, 42″ HDTV and Kicker sound system. The sound system features a dual subwoofer system, a separate amplifier, four two-way speakers with tweeters and separate crossovers, and dual two-channel amps with separate equalizers and speaker control units.

The exteriors feature custom black paint treated with silver metallic flakes, accented by custom western-engraved silver door handles, a front grille adorned with a chrome Brooks & Dunn logo steer skull, and a hand-tooled black saddle leather-trim tonneau cover surrounded with custom Brooks & Dunn silver conchos, all created by noted silversmith, artist and horseman, Clint Mortenson of Mortenson Silver & Saddles, besides a slew of other details. Mavizen's TTX02 electric motorcycle with built-in web server is meant for Silicon Valley

Remember the computerized chopper that comes fitted with an all-weather SwitchBack PC on board from Intel? As if that wasn’t enough internet addiction, Mavizen’s TTX02 electric motorcycle comes with built-in web server, Wi-Fi and Linux. Dubbed as “a laptop on wheels,” the Mavizen TTX02 uses the rolling chassis of an FIM homologated and road legal bike and has a top speed of 130mph. It can be further customized to fit specific needs. According to Azhar Hussain, TTXGP founder and entrepreneur, the consumer electronics perspective comes from the notion that “we are living in a click culture and connectivity is the key, across the board. Our approach was to find how we could make a laptop go racing. We think electric vehicles have more in common with consumer electronics than traditional automotive.” The Mavizen TTX02 will be available for delivery in Q1 of 2010, in a limited production of 50 units for a price of approx. $41,300.

The British group Linley is known for its range of bespoke architectural boxes designed to house jewelery, cigars, wine or other collector items. The latest from this design group is this mesmerizing architectural humidor designed after the iconic Partagas Factory in Cuba. The box itself is constructed in sycamore, with cherry moldings and lippings and marquetry detailing in walnut, sycamore and ebony. The interior is lined with Spanish cedarwood and contains a “CigarSpa” humidification system. The box also features hidden drawers and compartments within the structure. And the architecture marvel packs 100 limited edition cigars from the “Partagas Serie D.” This extraordinary architectural artwork humidor is the only one that will ever be made, and will exclusively retail from 20ltd.

The PS3 coffee table is for the gaming enthusiasts

We have earlier told you about the iPhone coffee table. And now, the geeky furniture gets another lease of life with this amazing PS3 coffee table by designer Stephane Perruchon, who earlier enthralled us with his Babylon hanging fireplaces. The designer brings his video game fascination to the real world with this PS3 table that features handmade PS3 controllers as the base, complete with two handles made of ABS and then decorated with the buttons. The table is available in black and white versions. No word on the price is yet available on the site, but every gaming geek would love to have one, right folks?

Swiss watchmaker debuts $350,000 ultra-luxurious watch for US collectors

Although the recession has slowed the sale of designer watches, Swiss watchmaker Christophe Golay strongly believes that there is still a strong demand for high-end watches for those who can afford them. And that explains the launch of the company’s $350,000 ultra-luxurious watch into the U.S. market. The new line of high-end watches from Cephee combines Swiss craftsmanship with hi-tech engineering. The first watch to be introduced under the new Cephee brand is “Ether” that features over 150 precision set baguette diamonds, with an invisible channel setting that allows each stone to reflect all the light that it absorbs. The hands of the watch are fashioned of a delicate blue tinted sapphire called colored spinel, and the straps are handmade of the softest supple leather with a hand-crafted diamond buckle. Cephee manufactures every aspect of these watches in their own workshop in Geneva. This limited edition watch is priced at $350,000.

'Wall of Sound' is the world’s biggest iPod speaker

Apple’s iPod has revolutionized the world of music since its launch in 2001, and it is still the prized gadget of millions around the world. The latest on the list of iPod gadgetry is the world’s biggest iPod speaker called “Wall of Sound,” that weighs 102 kilos (225 pounds), stands almost a meter tall and 1.25 meters wide, and can pump up to 125 watts. Completely handmade, the wall is made up of 28 individual speakers, each housed in their own chamber, and it boasts its own tube amplifier hidden away inside. The monstrous wall speaker belittles the iPod dock on the side. This hand-built artistic speaker comes for a matching price tag of $4,500 and reportedly, the first batch is already sold.

The Galactic Suite Space Resort is scheduled to open in 2012

A trip to space will always hold its fascination to every sci-fi lover, and it will be a dream come true for those well-heeled folks who are resilient to the crisis. Apparently, a trip to space is still big on the list of the uber-rich, and that’s exactly why the Barcelona-based architects of the Galactic Suite Space Resort, which we have reported on back in 2007, are hopeful of opening their futuristic space resort to the public in 2012. Though looking at the time line from 2007 to 2012, it looks like it will remain a concept even in the future, but if you were to believe the Galactic Suite folks, it will soon become a reality. The company says it is on target to accept its first paying guests in 2012 despite all the question marks on the investment and time frame for this multi-billion-dollar project. This dream-come-true space travel will cost $4.4 million for a three-night stay at the hotel, including an eight-week training course on a tropical island. The other charms for the guests includes the rare chance of seeing the sun rise 15 times a day and travel around the world every 80 minutes in Velcro suits.

“It’s very normal to think that your children, possibly within 15 years, could spend a weekend in space,” says Galactic Suite CEO Xavier Claramunt, a former aerospace engineer in an exclusive interview to Reuters. Richard Branson’s space tours firm, Virgin Galactic, will use the facility to propel tourists into suborbital space at a cost of $200,000 a ride. Galactic Suite hopes to start its project with a single pod in orbit 450 km (280 miles) above the earth, traveling at 30,000 km per hour, with the capacity to hold four guests and two astronaut-pilots. Claramunt says an anonymous billionaire space enthusiast has granted $3 billion to finance the project. And if you still call it a hoax, more than 200 people have expressed an interest in traveling to the space hotel and at least 43 people have already made reservations.

Mobiado extends its Stealth collection with 105GMT Stealth and Antique

Mobiado has updated its Stealth series with two luxurious handset designs, the Mobiado 105GMT Stealth and the 105GMT Antique. The 105GMT Stealth and 105GMT Antique were inspired by military stealth aircraft, and the 105GMT combines aluminum, sapphire crystal and mechanical watches. The 105GMT Stealth frame is precision CNC machined from aircraft aluminum and anodized black with sapphire crystal buttons, hand painted in black. All the lettering and symbols on the phone are hand painted dark gray using a unique painting process. Only 117 of these mobile phones were produced. While the Mobiado 105GMT Antique is crafted in traditional Eurpoean style from rose gold, diamond, sapphire crystal, and Cocobolo hardwood in a limited edition of 50 sets.

The 105GMT Antique frame is precision CNC machined from solid brass and is then finished with a 10 micron thick coating of rose gold. The buttons of the 105GMT Antique are sapphire crystal, hand painted with rose gold. The entire front and back of both 105GMT Stealth and Antique have been crafted from large pieces of sapphire crystal, with a wear resistance second only to diamond and both phones feature a unique and hidden sliding battery cover mechanism (patent pending) from one large piece of sapphire crystal.

The 105GMT Stealth and Antique incorporate a unique dual mechanical watch movement, allowing for the setting of two international time zones. Each Swiss gold-plated mechanical watch movement contains 25 jeweled bearings, with self-winding automatic mechanism, the movements of which are attached with a Mobiado exclusive 3D shock absorbing system for everyday use. The 105GMT Stealth and Antique are unlocked, quad-band GSM/EGSM and dual-band WCDMA network operational that work within North America, Europe, Africa, Asia- Pacific and South America.
